New Dunedin Hospital

The New Dunedin Hospital is one of the largest building projects the Southern District has ever seen. With a budget of $1.2 - $1.4 billion, and a labour force of over 1000 needed at the peak of construction, the project is set to shape not only the future of healthcare for our region, but also the city of Dunedin. Over the next decade work will be constantly underway to provide the people of the Southern District with a fit-for-purpose, future-focused, fully integrated facility.

Community support and involvement will be integral to making this project a success.

Members of our community are already making contributions to the design process. Community Health Council Advisors are currently part of Facilities in Transformation Groups (FiT Groups) along with Southern DHB staff. They meet with health planners, designers and project management teams to make decisions and provide recommendations on design elements for the New Dunedin Hospital project.

You can be a part of this too. Head to https://www.engage.southernhealth.nz/how-get-involved/become-patient-advisor or information on how you can become a Community Health Council advisor, and make contributions to this project by joining a FiT group.
